Long-thorned kiawe (Prosopis juliflora) can grow as a rambling shrub or tree and has thorns up to 2-1/2 inches long. This species is not the same as common kiawe (Prosopis pallida), which grows into a tree and has thorns that are either absent or less than one inch long.
