Gardner, D. E. . Unpublished: Verticillium wilt(?) of koa. Unpublished

ABSTRACT
In conjunction with Victor Tanimoto, DLNR entomologist, I investigated the death of koa trees at Ho`omaluhia State Park. I don't recall that a diagnosis, whether disease or insect related, was conclusive. However, in investigation similar death of koa in HAVO, I isolated a species of Verticillium from diseased tissue. Koch's postulates were not completed, so the pathogenicity of the isolate was not confirmed; however, the genus Verticillium is known to include virulent vascular fungi.
