Gardner, D. E. 1978. Occurrence of fuchsia rust in Hawaii. Plant Disease Reporter 63:136-137.

ABSTRACT
Fuchsia hybrida bushes, which form roadside thickets on the island of Hawaii, were found to be infected with Puccinastrum epilobii, the cause of fuchsia rust. This is the first report of fuchsia rust in Hawaii. Although known natural infection at this is limited to F. hybrida, naturalized F. magellanica became infected following inoculation with P. epilobii urediospores.
