ABSTRACT
Septoria vulcani sp. novo is described. The fungus produces leaf spots on Rumex skottsbergii and R. giganteus, closely related constituents of Hawai'i's endemic flora. The hosts occur as shrubs of forest understory or open lava fields and are distinct from the weedy Rumex hosts other Septoria spp. have been reported on elsewhere. This appears to be the first report of a Septoria on members of the Polygonaceae in Hawai'i.
