Habit:  herb

Description:  "Erect and strict to diffusely branched herb 0.5-3 dm tall, glabrous or nearly so; leaves broadly ovate, 3-15 mm long, 2-10 mm wide, sessile, rounded and subclasping at base, acute at apex, entire or with 1 or 2 small teeth above middle; pedicels slender, 5-10 mm long at anthesis, to 2.5 cm long at maturity; sepals 5, distinct almost to base, lance-oblong, 1.5-2.5 mm long, sparsely stipitate-glandular; corolla 3.5-8 mm long, pale lavender to nearly white, margins of lobes often bluish or purplish, upper lip about 1 mm long, exterior in bud, shallowly emarginate, the lower 3-lobed, lobes about 1.5 mm long, spreading, a small tuft of straight, thickish, yellowish hairs in each sinus between upper and lower lips; functional stamens 2, inserted above middle of corolla tube, anthers often in contact with each other and with stigma, filaments glabrous; style slender, 1.5-2 mm long, curved upward near tip; capsules 4-5 mm long, pale yellowish brown, septa persistent; seeds yellowish brown, truncate at base, obtuse at apex, about 0.3 mm long, 4-6-ridged longitudinally and transversely lined between ridges"  (Wiggins & Porter, 1971; pp. 449-450).
