Habit:  herb

Description:  "Vegetatively much like [Fleischmannia pratensis], perhaps oftener becoming subshrubby, and with the leaves sometimes cordate at base; inflorescence tending to be longer and more paniculate than in [Fleischmannia pratensis]; involucre 3-5 mm high, evidently puberulent or viscid-puberulent at least toward base, its bracts rather inconspicuously imbricate and inconspicuously striate, all relatively narrow and tapering gradually to the slender tip, the inner often less so than the outer, but still seldom as much as 0.5 mm wide at 0.5 mm from tip, the outer slender and very narrowly acute or acuminate; flowers mostly 9-16 in each head, pale greenish or yellowish green to white or seldom lilac or bluish, the corolla lobes glandular externally; achenes black, generally hispidulous at least on angles, 1.5-2.5 mm long"  (Wiggins & Porter, 1971; pp. 334-335).

Habitat/ecology:  "in thickets, along banks of streams, at edges of forest, and at disturbed sites" (Wiggins & Porter, 1971; pp. 334-335).

Native range:  Mexico, Central America, and western tropical South America, south at least as far as Bolivia (Wiggins & Porter, 1971; pp. 334-335).
