In Australia, "it has smothers native trees and shrubs and is becoming increasingly problematic around Darwin [Northern Territory], where it has covered grass swards. In Queensland, it is widely distributed in a number of habitats ranging from the fringes of mangroves to rainforest and eucalypt forest.
