Description:  "High-climbing liana; sap sweet-scented; star-shaped hairs on live plant orange or reddish, rays always pressed flat against surface, drying whitish with central reddish spot.  Leaf blades on vegetative shoots usually shortly 3-lobed, 3-7.5 x 3-8 inches, glossy to dull yellow-green to emerald"  (Staples & Herbst, 2005; p. 132).
