Habit:  herb

Description:  "Erect annual herb, 0.5-1 m high.  Stems little-branched, densely appressed tawny-pubescent; leaves simple, nearly sessile, the blade linear, 2-3.5 cm long, 3 mm wide, obtuse and shortly apiculate at apex, cuneate to obtuse at base, densely appressed-pubescent and paler beneath, less so above.  Inflorescence terminal or axillary racemes, elongate, laxly-flowered.  Flowers yellow, short-pedicelled, about 5 mm long; calyx densely appressed-pubescent, the lobes lanceolate, acute, not accrescent in fruit; corolla scarcely longer than the calyx, glabrous; ovary glabrous, sessile.  Pod ovoid, straight, equaling or slightly exceeding the calyx, black, glabrous"  (Walker, 1976; p. 555).
