Habit:  shrub

Description:  "The root is a taproot.  The stem is erect, herbaceous when young but turns woody with age, 50 to 150 centimeters tall and pubescent.  The leaves are lobed and large.  The flowers occur in cymes and are very white.  The fruit is a capsule.  The entire plant is covered with stinging hairs"  (Cardenas et al., 1972; p. 173).

Habitat/ecology:  "Perennial, stinging tree-like nettle found in perennial crops, pastures, roadsides and ditchbanks"  (Cardenas et al., 1972; p. 173).

Propagation:  Seed (Cardenas et al., 1972; p. 173).

Native range:  Mexico, Central and South America (GRIN).
