Habit:  shrub

Description:  "Shrub or scrambler 6-15 feet high, suckering from roots; branchlets pubescent.  Leaves in whorls of 3-5, sessile; blades narrowly elliptic, 1.75-4.5 x 0.7-2.2 inches, pubescent above, underside pilose, especially on main veins.  Flower sepals narrowly elliptic, 0.65-0.8 x 0.25-0.4 inches; corolla broadly funnel-shaped, 2.5-3.5 inches long, limb 2-2.5 inches in diameter, mauve"  (Staples & Herbst, 2005; p. 118).

"Erect or weakly climbing.  Young branchlets fairy.  Leaves 8-12 cm, in whorls of usually 4, oblong or obovate-oblong, abruptly acuminate, down above, more densely so beneath.  Calyx pubescent, corolla 6-9 cm long x 5-6 cm across at limb, rose-purple, darker in throat, tube not basally swollen"  (Huxley, 1992; vol. 1, p. 107).
