Pennisetum glaucum
Clusters of seeds, composed of 1-4 spikelets, are surrounded by an involucre of bristles. These bristles are variable, being either plumose or glabrous, and varying in length from 7-30mm long. No bristles are visible in this specimen from the Shewula district, Swaziland. The clusters of spikelets may be sessile or borne on peduncle-stumps arising from the rachis. These spikelets are tightly packed when mature.
