Opuntia monacantha

The cladodes are flattened, thin and often appearing wilted. They are bright green and shiny, longer (100-300 mm) than broad (50-100 mm). Spines in groups of 1-3 with spines up to 70mm long. The flowers are yellow with the outer petals with red markings. Fruits reddish-purple, obovoid, about 60 mm long, often prolific.
