Macroptilium atropurpureum
Siratro is a perennial forage legume spreading effectively by means of stolons. It is a deep rooted perennial with trailing pubescent stems which root anywhere along their length. Does well in moist, warm, sub-tropical and tropical climates. Sensitive to frost. Its persistence under dry conditions and steady grazing pressure is very good. Occurs naturally in Central and South America.
