Surveying for Miconia: Planning & Navigating

Operation Miconia conducts aerial surveys in many remote and rural areas.
Keauhou mauka
GIS is used to plan aerial surveys.  Miconia distribution is projected onto aerial imagery or topographic maps, and analyzed.  Ground survey track data is also used.  The data is compared to vegetation types, terrain and slope, nearby farms or residences, etc.  All these details are considered in flight planning.
