Total Plants Treated thru June 2000

|
With diligence from the crews and help from many many volunteers across the island, Operation Miconia has succeeded in stopping the spread of this noxious tree. Now annual maintenance is required to prevent any new plants from maturing. |

Most of the big numbers of trees killed come from 3 sites. Onomea, Kurtistown, and Leilani Estates. Each year the big "seeders" are harder to find, and generally the number of seedlings has been explosive. We expect the high numbers to drop off in time, and intend to use this data to help determine when the final plants are finally destroyed. |
