BIISC / Operation Miconia, Big Island Invasive Species Committee

Miconia Air Survey 20031016:  Umauma, Hakalau, Akaka Falls, Kolekole Drainages
Akaka Falls to Kolekole Rappel Site

2003 October 16,
Thursday
Completed

North and South Hilo drainages from Umauma to Kolekole were flown.  Miconia were found, but not in new locations.  One mature tree was found at a known rappel site in Kolekole drainage, 1km makai of Akaka Falls.  It's likely the tree and many immature plants at this site require rappelling or aerial acces to destroy.
