Nuu Mauka is located near Kaupo, and is part of the Leeward Haleakala Watershed Restoration Partnership (LHWRP).
The area is a restoration site for the native Hawaiian koa tree (Acacia koa), and is part of a regional effort to improve the watershed of Leeward Haleakala.
