New!  How do I submit a plant to have it posted on the the HEAR mystery plants page?

To submit a plant to have it posted on the the HEAR mystery plants page, send one or more images and the who/when/where/why of collection. Images should be as high as possible resolution (straight from a digital camera is fine, or a 150dpi scan of a 4x6 photo). (If you don't have high-res images, just send what you have). It's always best to include several images if you have them, esp. including flowers and/or fruits, as well as a "habit" photo and photo of leaves, stems, tendrils, etc. Include some information and/or visual clues to indicate scale (size) of the subjects of the images. Also, include who collected it, where (country/state/more specific location); habitat description; the date collected (approximate is okay if you don't have the exact date); any circumstances that are noteworthy (e.g. it covers hundreds of acres, or is the first one seen in a vicinity, etc.). Note also anything in particular you wish to know about it. Include your "best guess" (and your confidence level) if you think you can identify it to family, genus, etc. (or even to species, if you just want confirmation of your guess).

Just make sure we have enough info so that folks who see the page know as much as they can about it, and have some context for understanding. See some of the previous successfully-identified entries, e.g.:

If you provide information similar to the information provided for these entries, that will be sufficient.

Send information to webmaster@hear.org.
