    • MISC-hosted invasive species forum: MISC sponsored (with help from the Maui County Farm Bureau) an update on invasive species. The keynote speaker was Dr. Lyle Wong, of the HDOA. He and his team presented information on the astonishing number of new insect pests found during the HDOA inspection "blitz" at Kahului Airport. This was followed by pest updates on Miconia and the Caribbean frogs, and the prognosis for new pests such as snakes and red imported fire ants (RIFA). The session ended with a review of the relevant invasive species bills before the legislature, and what people can do to help. A detailed forum announcement PDF icon is available online.
