About Kaulunani Invasive Species Workshops (KISW)

Kaulunani Invasive Species Workshops are a series of informational and interactive sessions sponsored by the Kaulunani Urban and Community Forestry Program to involve the public--particularly the landscaping and horticulture industries--in disseminating information about alternatives to using invasive plant species in Hawaii.

The Kaulunani Urban and Community Forestry Program (Kaulunani) is a partnership between the Division of Forestry & Wildlife of the Hawaii State Department of Land and Natural Resources and the Institute of Pacific Islands Forestry of the USDA Forest Service (U.S. Department of Agriculture).

The mission of the Kaulunani Urban and Community Forestry Program us to "encourage, empower and equip the people of Hawaii to develop, expand and perpetuate our urban and community forest." The vision is that "Kaulunani improves the health and viability of trees in Hawaiian communities through educational programs, financial support in the form of cost-share grants, technical training, Arbor Day promotion, and partnerships with the public and private sectors, community groups and not-for-profit organizations."

The Kaulunani Invasive Species Workshops are part of Kaulunani's efforts to fulfill its mission and vision.

The Hawaiian Ecosystems at Risk project (HEAR) supports these efforts and sponsors this website.
