Description: | Erect or arching shrubs with thorny stems and rough leaves, 1" white 5-petaled flowers, and well-known edible, red or black berries. |
Risk areas: | Moist and wet forests and open areas from almost sea level to 7000 ft. elevation. |
WARNING: | Several species of blackberries and raspberries are among the most invasive pest plants in Hawaii and elsewhere. No foreign members of the genus should be planted for horticultural purposes in the State as many are likely to prove invasive. |
