Description: | Open shrub up to 8' tall, with stems having many whitish warts, alternate 1-2" leaves with several bristles, 1.5-2" yellow flowers, and 1/2" black fruits held erect on a waxy red base. |
Risk areas: | Dry to moist disturbed forests at 0-1000 feet elevation. |
WARNING: | All Ochna species grown in Hawaii produce fruits attractive to birds and, hence, are easily dispersed and naturalized. Prudent horticulture dictates against the use of any of these species. |
