Description: Underwater olive-green or reddish herb, with brittle stems 1-4' long; 2 or 3 oblong, toothed 1/2-1" leaves at each stem joint; flowers and fruits inconspicuous.
Risk areas: Brackish or alkaline lakes, ponds, ditches, canals, marshes, and slow-moving streams.
WARNING:WARNING! Naiad arrives in Hawaii as a contaminant with other aquatic ornamentals. Capable of forming dense mats that choke water bodies. Naiad is a weed in Florida and other tropical areas; every effort should be made to prevent it from establishing in Hawaii.
