Other names:hedge privet, small-leaved privet
Description: Large shrub to small tree up to 15' tall with a two rows of opposite 1" leaves going down each twig, 6-10" clusters of white flowers, and 1/4" blue-black berries.
Risk areas: Moist and wet forests, roadsides, at 3000-5000 ft. elevation.
WARNING:Given the degree to which several privet species have proven to be serious environmental weeds elsewhere, and their production of numerous fruits attractive to birds, all species of privet should be avoided for horticulture in Hawaii.
