Other names:broadleaf privet
Description: Large shrub or tree up to 30' tall with 3-6" stiff yellow-green leaves, 10" clusters of white flowers, and 1/4" blue-black berries.
Risk areas: Dry, moist, and wet forests, open areas, roadsides, up to at least 6000 ft. elevation.
WARNING:Given the degree to which several privet species have proven to be serious environmental weeds elsewhere, and their production of numerous fruits attractive to birds, all species of privet should be avoided for horticulture in Hawaii.
