The project ECU/00/G31 "Control of Invasive Species in the Galapagos Archipelago", undersigned by the Ecuadorian government  representative, the Ministry of the Environment, with funding from the Global Environment Facility (GEF), has the principal objective of endowing the Ecuadorian institutions responsible for the conservation of the Galapagos Islands with the various tools they require in order to confront the threat of invasive species which contribute to habitat degradation and competition with native species. The project is implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) at the request of the Minister of the Environment of Ecuador with four co-executing institutions: the Galapagos National Park (GNP),  the Galapagos National Institute (INGALA), the Ecuadorian Agricultural Health Service (SESA) and the Charles Darwin Foundation (CDF).
