Status of Syphrea uberabensis as a biocontrol agent for Tibouchina herbacea in Hawaii

Syphrea uberabensis (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae) is under consideration as a biological control agent for Tibouchina herbacea. The insect skeletonizes leaves of this species and those of closely related species in Brazil. Its effects are being studied.
