Status of Septoria passiflorae as a biocontrol agent for Passiflora tarminiana in Hawaii

The fungus Septoria passiflorae (Deuteromycetes, Dothidiaceae) was released in Hawaii in 1986. It had an apparently dramatic defoliating effect in Laupahoehoe (Big Island), but the cause of defoliation was not confirmed, and drought may have been a factor.
