Status of Cyanotrica necyria as a biocontrol agent for Passiflora tarminiana in Hawaii

The leaf feeder Cyanotrica necyria (Lepidoptera: Notodontidae) from Ecuador and Colombia was released in Hawaii in 1988 as a biological control agent for Passiflora tripartita var. mollissima, and became established but has had no demonstrable effect on the target species. Further work on this species is desirable because it has a high potential for completely defoliating plants. (info from http://www.hear.org/bibliography/references/9451_smith_2002/)
