This article summarizes a study conducted in 1994 on the control of mammalian predators of Hawaiian waterbirds at Kanaha Pond Wildlife Sanctuary on Maui, Hawaii. The goal of this study was to reduce the predator population, to evaluate predator diets with respect to bird predation, to document the significance such predation has on the endangered waterbird population, and to develop a strategy for a long term trapping program.
