A key to the most pestiferous ant species threatening Hawaii's native fauna and flora (Reimer 1997)
This key can help includes ant species most likely to cause a significant impact on Hawaii's native biota. This key was created by Neil Reimer (Hawaii Department of Agriculture) in 1997.

Hawaii ants identification guide and checklist (from DiscoverLifeNew!
DiscoverLife presents an illustrated online dynamic key to ants in Hawaii. (This is perhaps the easiest key to use, because it's non-linear: you can select any set of characters that are obvious to you about the ant in question and the key will narrow the search based on the information you have available.)

Identification guide to Pacific invasive ants (PIAKey) New!
The PIAkey (Pacific Invasive Ant key) is a project that seeks to provide a user-friendly identification guide to the most common invasive ants of the Pacific Island region. Although the focus of the project is geared towards the Pacific region, the guide is widely applicable across many tropical regions. (This key does not include native ant species of the Pacific region; however, this is irrelevant if the key is used in Hawaii, since Hawaii has no native ants.)

Hawaii ants key, identification guide, and checklist
"Discover Life" presents an excellent interactive identification guide to ants in Hawaii (as part of a larger set of worldwide ant identification guides) which includes pictorial ant identification information.

Little fire ant (Wasmannia) behavior key

Antweb

Ants of importance to Hawaii land managers
While not actually a key, this resource contains descriptions of key characters to aid in identifying 15 important ant species found in Hawaii.

The Hawaiian Ecosystems at Risk (HEAR) project is currently funded by the Pacific Basin Information Node (PBIN) of the National Biological Information Infrastructure (NBII) through PIERC (USGS) with support from HCSU (UH-Hilo).
