The Pacific Internship Programs for Exploring Science (PIPES) program is seeking Hawaii-based federal, state, county, non-profit, and private agencies to serve as host mentors for summer interns. Strengthening Community Agrosecurity Planning Workshop
An agrosecurity planning workshop will be held on Oahu 22-23 February 2010 and on Hawaii 25-26 February 2010. The 2010 Biological Control for Nature Conference
A conference on biological control of pests in forests and associated habitats will be held in Northampton, Massachusetts, from 3-7 October 2010. The meeting is supported by the USDA Forest Service (Forest Health Technology Enterprise Team,), USDA, ARS, the National Park Service, the US Fish and Wildlife Service, and the mid Atlantic Exotic Pest Plant Council.

National Native Seed Conference
The National Native Seed Conference, presented by the Institute for Applied Ecology and Bureau of Land Management, will focus on strategies to develop a national native seed supply that has the flexibility to meet short-term emergency stabilization and rehabilitation needs and to satisfy demand for longer-term restoration projects, including habitat restoration and hazardous fuels reduction. The conference will be held 17-21 May 2010 in Snowbird, Utah.

Pesticide risk reduction education short courses
A schedule of short courses to prepare for the Hawaii Department of Agriculture's certification exam for restricted use pesticides is posted by the College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources, University of Hawaii at Manoa. Upcoming courses are scheduled for Maui on 17-19 February 2010, and Hilo, on 30 March to 1 April 2010. and Molokai on 13-15 April 2010.

Help rebuild the Koieie Fishpond in Kihei, Maui on second Saturdays of each month from 8 to 11 am. The revitalization of Koieie serves to educate Maui's youth and communities about native Hawaiian fishponds, the Hawaiian culture, its traditions and practices.
