Description:  "These...plants reach 3 feet in height and have linear, recurved leaves 14-18 inches long with an unequally bilobed apex.  The inflorescences are horizontal to arching and shorter than the leaves, with showy, fragrant, 2-3 inch diameter flowers, white to yellow, densely spotted with purple-brown, the tepals swept back against the flower pedicel, clawed basally, and undulate around the margins.  The lip is magenta, 3-lobed, the mid-lobe violin-shaped, apically notched and 3-ridged, and the spur sideways-compressed, 0.4 inch long"  (Staples & Herbst, 2005; p. 737).

"The inflorescence is curved, with 6-10 fragrant, waxy, long-lasting flowers, about 4 cm tall.  The petals and sepals are curled backwards in its proximal two-thirds and widened in the distal third, with an undulating edge; the petals are also twisted backwards.  The colour is vary variable, from off-white to pale cream or mauve, with numerous chocolate-brown spots arranged in longitudinal rows"   (Teoh, 2005; p. 237).
