Habit: vine
Description: "Herbaceous vine; stems retrorsely strigillose, glabrescent; stipules linear-lanceolate, to about 2 mm long; leaves 3-foliolate, petiole 1.5-3 cm long; stipels linear, minute; leaflets ovate to elliptic, about 1-4 cm long, 0.5-3 cm wide, apex acute to emarginate, base rounded to subcordate, upper surface pubescent along midvein, sparsely to densely pubescent with appressed hairs, secondary veins usually inconspicuous; inflorescences racemose, few-flowered; flowers about 8-13 mm long; bracts and bracteoles linear, 1-2 mm long; calyx about 5 mm long, deeply lobed, sparsely appressed-pubescent; petals pink or bluish to lavender; fruit essentially sessile, 3-4 cm long, 4-6 mm wide, usually about 5- to 8-seeded, appressed-pubescent or hairs subappressed; seeds brown, mottled, about 3 mm long, 2 mm wide, 1 mm thick" (Wiggins & Porter, 1971; p. 623).
