Habit:  tree

Description:  "Trees up to 35 m tall. Leaves pinnately compound, usually opposite, leaflets 6-12 pairs, ovate-elliptic, asymmetrical, 13-20 cm long, 5-7.5 cm wide, glabrous, glandular punctate, margins weakly revolute, apex attenuate, base cuneate to rounded. Flowers perfect, 3-4 mm long; petals white; staminal filaments pubescent at apex. Capsules dark brown, cylindrical, slightly 5-angled, 6-10 cm long, ca. 2.5 cm in diameter. Seeds 4.5-6 cm long (including membranous wings)" (Wagner et al., 1999; p. 1175).

Habitat/ecology:  Commonly introduced to Hawai‘i as a forestry tree and now naturalized (Wagner et al., 1999; p. 1175).

Propagation:  Wind-dispersed seeds.

Native range:  Queensland, Australia (GRIN).
