Habit:  shrub

Description:  "Shrubs erect, to 2 m tall, with clear sap. Leaves in whorls of 3-5, subsessile; leaf blade elliptic or narrowly obovate, 5-14 x 2-4 cm, minutely hispid along veins; lateral veins elevated on abaxial surface. Flowers 4-6 cm. Corolla tube rather narrowly funnelform, ca. 3 cm, distinctly swollen at base, limb ca. 4 cm in diameter; lobes pale yellow, ovate or orbicular, ca. 2 cm, obtuse. Capsules globose, ca. 3 cm in diameter, long spiny. Seeds ca. 2 x 1.5 cm"  (Flora of China online).

Habitat/ecology:  In Fiji, "cultivated near sea level and sometimes naturalized"  (Smith, 1988; p. 101).
