The Honolulu office of the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (USFWS) now* maintains the "master list" of species names & taxon codes for the Monitoring Database (*based mainly on Bishop Museum's information, but USFWS is able to provide updated information to us more quickly and in a better format than is Bishop Museum). In addition, USFWS provides Monitoring Database users with updated yet *UNOFFICIAL* federal status (endangered/threatened/etc.) information for plants in Hawaii.
Through special arrangements with USFWS, HEAR now has available online:
Db4web4p.db & Db4web4d.dbf |
Species info (including taxon codes, vernacular names, island distribution, federal status, etc.) for *all* native & known established alien vascular plants in Hawaii |
Db4web1p.db & Db4web1d.dbf |
Extended info on federally listed/candidate plant species in Hawaii (link to Db4web4p [Db4web4d] table via "In-house taxon name" ["IN_HOUSE_T"] field) |
Origins.dbf | Origin codes (for translation of "Origin" field in Db4web4p.db/Db4web4d.dbf) |
Fedstat.dbf | Federal status codes (for translation of "FedStatus" field in Db4web1p.db/Db4web1d.dbf) |
Trends.dbf | Trend codes (for translation of "Trend" field in Db4web1p.db/Db4web1d.dbf) |
(**A file with the extension ".DB" is the main file of a Paradox for Windows table; a file with the extension ".DBF" is the main file of a dBase table. Files with extensions other than .DB or .DBF are required files which, along with the appropriate .DB/.DBF file, comprise the Paradox or dBase table [i.e. a table can have more than one file implicitly associated with it]; DO NOT DELETE THESE FILES unless you absolutely know what you're doing!)
